Charles Bassey: From Soccer Player and Food Vendor in Nigeria to Premiere NBA Draft Prospect

NBA draft prospect Charles Bassey would sell fried chicken on the side of the road as a kid in Lagos, Nigeria, to help his family financially. He had no basketball background. Then one day, a local youth coach noticed how big he was as a 12-year-old. Two years later, the big man became the MVP of Giants of Africa, a program founded by Masai Ujiri, the Toronto Raptors' president of basketball operations.

While spending time with CloseUp360 preparing for the NBA draft, Charles recounted his journey leaving his family six years ago to come to the United States, and showed how his early foundation in soccer has helped him become the mobile center he is today. For our "The Journey" series.
