NBA Runway, Playoffs Week 3: Summer is Coming
The NBA may have its sights set on the conference semifinals of the playoffs, but players’ fashion choices suggest otherwise. Many of the league's biggest stars wore summer vacation looks—from sandals and shorts to bright colors fit for warm weather—upon arriving to arenas during Week 2 of the postseason. Here are this week’s five best dressed, starting with No. 5.
5) Rudy Gay, San Antonio Spurs
Outfit: Summer Stripes
Rudy Gay rocked a summery striped set before he and the San Antonio Spurs tied up their series against the Denver Nuggets on April 25. The bold blue striped set designed by s.k. manor hill perfected that old-timey, vintage summer vibe. Rudy completed the look with a pair of Fear of God low-cut sneakers.
4) Russell Westbrook, Oklahoma City Thunder
Outfit: Russ Goes Red
Russ strolled into the Moda Center fitted in bright red for Game 5 of the first-round series between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Portland Trail Blazers. The 2017 NBA MVP wore a tee by his own Honor The Gift collaboration with Advisory Board Crystals over a pair of red joggers by Fear of God. Brodie accessorized the look with classic Air Jordan 1 sneaks and a khaki Disney dat hat.
3) James Harden, Houston Rockets
Outfit: Bandana Set
James Harden walked into Oracle Arena for Game 1 of the Houston Rockets-Golden State Warriors second-round series in colorful summer set, this time by Loewe. Similar to the Loewe pants his teammate P.J. Tucker wore back in January, James’ bandana shorts set featured color-blocked patterns of paisley. He paired the look with the Chanel x Pharrell sneakers that Jimmy Butler wore last week.
2) Jimmy Butler, Philadelphia 76ers
Outfit: Jimmy/Jackson Pollock
Jimmy Butler arrived at the Wells Fargo Center on April 23 turning heads in a splattered look and sandals before he helped the Sixers close out the Brooklyn Nets in Game 5 of their first-round series. He styled an OAMC sweatshirt over a pair of folded-down overalls. Both featured black and white paint splatter patterns like a Jackson Pollock painting. With the weather finally warming up on the East Coast, the Houston native wore a pair of sandals to finish the look.
1) P.J. Tucker, Houston Rockets
Outfit: P.J. Wears Prada
P.J. Tucker continued to show love for designer wear when he arrived at Oracle Arena on April 28 in a vibrant Prada outfit before Game 1 of the conference semifinals. The league’s fashion king wore a cotton floral short-sleeved button up by Prada, which he tucked into a pair of bright red trousers. P.J. finished the look with red-accented Nike Air Maxs.
