Stephen Curry’s New UA Signature Shoe Honors Oakland’s Fox Theater

The Golden State Warriors are scheduled to move to the Chase Center in San Francisco next fall. But before they do, Stephen Curry will honor the city of Oakland, where he’s won two NBA MVPs and three titles, with his latest signature shoe from Under Armour.

The Curry 6 Fox Theater will pay homage to the one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. The colorway recreates the ambiance and feel of the Fox Theater in downtown Oakland, adorned with its signature neon lights known to brighten the city’s spirits. The theater reopened in 2009—the same year the Dubs drafted Steph with the No. 7 pick—and has served as a multi-functional space for the Oakland School for the Arts.

The Curry 6 Fox Theater’s functionality is informed by close study of Steph's quick-twitch movements and need to flutter around the floor within the Warriors’ free-flowing offense.

"Stephen Curry runs about 2.3 miles per game, and that's why we wanted to design a shoe that was more like a running shoe for him,” said Leon Gu, the designer of the Curry 6. “We added full-length HOVR to provide impact absorption and energy return."

“The Curry 6 gives me the ultimate confidence that no matter what move I try—change of direction, change of speed, the amount of wear and tear I put on my body over the course of 48 minutes—that it is going to ride with me the whole way,” Steph shared in a press release.

The Curry 6 Fox Theater colorway will be available for $130 on, at UA Brand Houses and select retail partners starting on January 4, 2019.
